  1. Try doing what this guy did - https://mandrivausers.org/index.php?showtopic=66144 Kieth
  2. Actually, it really isn't that big of a deal that I cannot watch TV with konqueror. I'm having trouble with my system shutting down unexpectedly, and I think it has something to do with Firefox and Thunderbird. Thunderbird is usually open and makes a thunderclap sound when a letter arrives. That way, in case the kids write, my wife is ready to run to the computer and read their letters!! Often, I also have Firefox on, doing some research, reading MUB :P , watching TV, etc. Then all of a sudden, the system quits. It might have more to do with Thunderbird, as it has also happened while running Thunderbird and Kaffeine (while watching a movie). Anyway, before confronting that problem here with you guys, I thought I would try konqueror as my browser. This "problem" is more of a challenge to resolve that an actual problem. Kieth
  3. I just check both Firefox and SeaMonkey. They both have the exact same language settings, in the same order: en-us, en, it. I didn't check konqueror because I couldn't find the language setting. :woops: Then in SeaMonkey, I removed English. With only Italian in the language setting, I tried Yalp! again. This time the TV came on, and remained on for about 2 seconds before giving me the error that my IP was outside Italy. I then changed the IP address in SeaMonkey, tried again, and received the error. Kieth
  4. Just for the fun of it, I logged in IceWM, instead of KDE, and tried Yalp! with konqueror, but I still received the same error, stating that my IP address isn't in Italy. Kieth
  5. I created another user, logged in as the new user, went to Yalp! and tried to watch TV, and no, I still get the same error message saying that my IP isn't in Italy. Kieth
  6. I just tried SeaMonkey with the Italian proxy. Same error. Kieth
  7. OK, I tried the new proxy with konqueror. With the web site mentioned, they only had 1 Italian proxy. I configured konqueror, cleared the cache, deleted the cookies, checked to make sure I was using the new IP address with the web site you listed, then connected to Yalp!. I still received the same error: Errore Sorry, your IP address is not connected within Italy, the system cannot process your request. Kieth
  8. Just for fun/information, I installed other browsers and tried to watch TV with Yalp!. As I already stated, with Firefox, no problem, and neither with midori. I get the same IP errore with Konqueror, Opera, and SeaMonkey. With all 5 at the site http://www.myipaddress.com/ the IP address is the same. I haven't yet tried the other web site, choosing a different proxy. I'll do it, then post the results. Kieth
  9. Well, I don't think it's set up to use a proxy. It's set to "connect to the internet directly". I also tried "Automatically detect proxy configuration", but it gives the same error. In both cases, I deleted the cookies and cleared the cache before trying them. Any other ideas? Thanks, Kieth
  10. What do you mean "in tail of address"?
  11. Nope, it still gives me the same message. Kieth
  12. OK, I think I understand. Therefore, if I always choose "linux (boot/vmlinuz) (see attachment), then I will always be using the most recent kernel? Kieth
  13. With Firefox, I can get on the Yalp! web site http://www.yalp.alice.it/tv/index.html?cha...p__tv_4_canale1 but with konqueror I get the following message. Sorry, your IP address is not connected within Italy, the system cannot process your request. Any idea on how to correct the problem. Thanks, Kieth
  14. You mean, no matter which linux link I choose, I'm actually booting into the same kernel - the latest? This seems strange because with the latest update (2.6.24.7), I cannot use my web cam, while I was able to get it working with the older kernel (2.6.24.5). Kieth
  15. I don't remember anymore the different paths (as you mentioned). This might sound pretty stupid, but you could always try more than one. You can't do any harm to your system. You can always change and/or delete the "connections" that do not work. On more than one occasion I couldn't remember which "path" I had to take, so I tried one, then another (I was always sure it was one of 2 chooses). That way I was finally able to get things hooked up. If you have a fast internet service, use "DSL", and/or "Ethernet". Mandriva will see your modem. Sorry I can't be of more help. :woops: Kieth
  16. Click on the icon "configure your computer" and enter your root password. Then click on "Network and Internet". There you will be able to set up your internet connection. If you do not want to connect at boot, then you will have to install rp-pppoe, rp-pppoe-gui. Kieth
  17. Thanks David, that seemed to have solved the problem. I removed openoffice.org-kde, and now it seems to be working fine. Kieth
  18. With OpenOffice, I did a normal up grade. It now shuts down suddenly for many and various reasons - click of the mouse, opening certain pages, etc. I opened OpenOffice in a terminal, but when OO shut down, there were no messages. I also changed mouses, but no luck. I use KDE, but I also tried another desktop (ICE??), and there was the same effect. Any ideas how to resolve the problem? Thanks, Kieth

    Midi files

You need to set up your urpmi for downloads. Click on Easy-Urmpi at the top of the page and do as it says. Then in MCC (or in "Applications" click on "Install and Remove software") you can add your software. Kieth

Timidity will do it for you. I just played a midi file with it! Kieth
  21. I agree with Yin, as well as the others. Kieth
  22. Make sure you have this file installed: dkms-gspcav1 It's to make webcams work. Kieth
  23. Hey John, you changed your picture!! Nice photo. Kieth
  24. I wasn't running clamav as root, and I wasn't executing any script, either. I still think it is interesting that there wasn't any viruses. On WindowsXP, the scanner "snips" viruses now and again, and it isn't hook up to the internet very much. Kieth
