What happens when you start irw? Perhaps a /dev/serial get´s created instead of /dev/lirc/serial?
Starting lircd service (service lircd start) it creates /dev/lirc/0
Starting IRW -> Nothing. Just back to the command line [root@domain.com]#
I cant understand why that /dev/lirc/0 is created cause I have configured to use lirc_serial instead???

Instructions have been updated. Some install procedures changed with newer VDR version. Tested on Mandriva 2006, no problems.

I'll test your HowTo. Only problem is that I have homebrew IR module and Kingman 12 in 1 Universal Remotecontrol. I found couple conf files for remote. I hope it will work.
Mine IR module:
Do you think that in my case I have to put these options?
# Hardware driver module to load HWMOD=lirc_serial DEVICE=/dev/lirc/serial # Serial port for the receiver (for serial driver) COM_PORT=/dev/ttyS0 DRIVER_OPTS="irq=4 io=0x3f8"
Ok, that doesnt seems to work for me. Lircd service start just ok but i dont find: /dev/lirc/serial
I also did: modprobe lirc_serial
What I should to do next???

Simple way. Just add PLF-sources: http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/
and then menu->system->configuration->packaging->install software
and select helixplayer and needed codecs.

Add PLF sources. Here is more information about that: http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/
And start SYSTEM - CONFIGURATION - PACKAGING - INSTALL SOFTWARE
Select software Video-DVDRip-0.97.2-2.plf

My all PCI lots are reserved and I have to buy wlan adapter. I found that there is USB+WLAN adapters so I dont have to PCI card to get wireless wlan connection.
My question is:
How linux compatible are those USB+WLAN adapters?
Can you recommend some specific wlan+usb adapter for me that works with Mandriva?
---------------
With those USB+WLAN adapters I mean like this product:

You can also start systems just typing in console:
su
(give password)
service httpd start (start apache)
service mysql start (start mysql)
-
Just install what u want and later start MANDRIVA INSTALL and type in search box K3B and install it.

Vendor: Ali Corporation
Description: M5263 ethernet controller
Module: Tulip
Product: http://www.asrock.com/product/product_939Dual-SATA2.htm
I have not been able to get the onboard ethernet controller working with Linux. There are a number of suggestions other places online to goto the ULi site and get their M1689 integrated chipset drivers for Linux kernel 2.6.8 that have the necessary drivers to be compiled. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to work if you don't have the 2.6.8 kernel.
The Patches from ULI is probably not yet in the Kernel.
Have someone else this same problem and found the solution?

Hello,
I need help with this strange mouse problem. I have two computers with wireless usb mouse (Logitech and Microsoft mouses). Both of them have this same problem.
When I boot mandriva sometimes pointer only moves up or down when I move mouse left or right. Pointer do not have any other movements than up or down. Sametime other movements scroll my virtual desktops.
This is my solution to get it work:
I disconnect my mouse and start system without mouse. Then I connect it when desktop loads and it works again. Strange.
When I connect my basic usb mouse with wire, it works like should be.
Have any one else this same problem? What is the cure?
Thanks for any reply!
ps. I have tried many other linux distro's and those are worked just OK with my mouses.

Just right-click an .ace file, choose Open with... and navigate to the unace executable Just tick the 'run in terminal' and 'remember this association' options, and add any additional switches you want to the command string.
Thanks

I have some files in .ace format. I have used unace commandline utility but how I can get ARK work with it???

I don't know the details, but basically, your two network interfaces are on different networks.
Let's assume your PC with the big disk is 10.0.0.10, and the AP is 192.168.1.1, then you should
- add a net route to 10.X.X.X using wlan0,
- add a net route to 192.168.1.X using eth0,
- add a default route (internet) to gateway 192.168.1.1.
ADSL connection is DHCP based so my IP changes always when I reboot my machine. What configuration files I have to edit? And how? Hope someone can help me with this problem.

My question is how to bridge two network cards in Mandriva?
Like this way:
MANDRIVA ---- WLAN CARD--->| . . . . . | WLAN ACCESS POINT--->260Gb Network drive
L I N U X ---- ETHERNET CARD---->ADSL---->INTERNET
So my computer would use ethernet card for internet connection and wlan card for to get access to the wlan access point which is connected to the 260Gb network drive that contains all my photos, music etc...
I only found solution to the winblows but not to the Mandriva linux :(

Saa7130/34-based capture/TV boards are supported by the saa7134 driver. Note that the saa7134 driver also is included in the 2.6.x kernels. So I think you just have to start right modules using Modprobe and start watching the TV.
-
Fullscreen I mean that on the monitor video is windowed and on the tv it is in fullscreen. Is this possible? That is the way I get it work in my winblows.
-
Thanks for the answers. That Nvidia code generator site was great. Now my twinview mode works almost like it should be.
Is there way to get videos playing on tv always at fullscreen mode???
Oh and one problem, what can cause this? When I start computer that "console" screen looks OK on tv and monitor. When X starts picture is also OK. But when I close the X back to the "console" screen its mesh the tv and monitor screen with some black and white blocks???
