FLuxbox - I have been unable to find anything I like more, despite being a bit of a whore for changing. I keep returning to Flux with Rox as the file manager. I found both KDE and Gnome too heavy to use.

I did it simply by installing from source rather than the RPM - it meant that it did not need to change any permissions to get it to work

This is nice. I am definitely getting faster speeds from this (although the whole thing went faster when I dropped the bloat of KDE and Gnome as well which helps). Great advice and I agree - it needs to be in Tips and Tricks
