Well, it is a usb digital photographic camera. The idea is to download the photos to the pc. Ps: I was wrong, what I have tested in mdk9.2 was gtkam not gqcam. gtkam do start in mdk10 so I guess I can use it. Thanks a lot.

I got the message /dev/video: No such file or directory each time I try to run gqcam in mandrake 10. What must I do? In mandrake 9.2 it works What information do you need to be able to help me? Is there another program to download photos for digital cameras? Thanks a lot

I was too busy so I didn't have nitice there were reports of the same problem. yes, I tried the one that comes with mandrake 10, but I have a softmodem with chip intel537ep, and I only have been able to install it in kernel 2.4.x. I didn't check wine when I had have intalled kernel 2.6.x. However, my problem is I want wine to run interner explorer, becouse my brother need to browse a page that only works with it (bad programming, I know).Thanks for the advice. Hi, I guess I was pretty clear in the tilte of the topic. As you know MDK10 mount and unmount magicly cd-roms. wll I did not close the konqueror window before eject the cd, the icon in the desktop keeps there after closin the window. And when I try to put a cd again, this do not work. i restart the computer and try again, still not working I try to mount it manualy, I found a ''not find divice to mount'' message (or something like that, do not remember exactly). So I check the /etc/fstab to see what has changed in the configuration, it still the same (I compare it with the burner setings). Then I restart in windows to see if almost it can use the drive, NO it don't, any cd I put give me the message ``insert a cd-rom plese´´´ or somthing like that. Do I have kill my drive? How I fix it?

Well, I tried 20040505 and I found the very same problem. Something I forgot to tell, when I said it crashes mandrake i mean this problem with the 'top' command and ksysguard. But also I mean that when I am turning of the computer it holds after 'dm', I do not remember what the first message is but, this is what happened: shot down messages first message [OK] dm [OK] and it holds there, never finish. This only happened when I try to run wine. so it is related. I have installed mandrake 10 OE in two computers (my ex's end mine). the both shows the very same problem, so it is not my hardware configuration. I have tried both fake windows and real one in the configuration prosess, both has failed. I had make it from konsole in kde (haven't try from the others) Also I must said I am using kernel 2.4 in both computers (becouse of drivers for softmodems) Some advice?

Hi. It has been a long time since I used mdk9.1 but as far as I remember, this would happend ever. So I suggest to check if the same happends to all the users in the pc. If is only you, you have a configuration problem that is not ever solve from graphical tools so you have to edit some conf. file into the .kde/ in your home. However it is not easy to know what file you have to edit, so the best is log from console (CTRL+ALT+F1) and remove your kde conf directory .kde/ then log in again to your account and let kde put the defaults. If all the users have the same problem, it must be a update to mdk9.1 that corrects that bug. But better upgrade your system to mdk10 official (it is pretty good) Good by

Hi. mandrake do not put mozilla in /usr/lib/mozilla, put it in /usr/lib/mozilla-$(VERSION) directory. it is suppoused to load the plugins from a sym link from /usr/lib/mozilla-$(VERSION)/plugins to /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins. However, the ./flashplayer-install will not install the plugins in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins becouse (I guess) it checks for other mozilla directories in order to be sure you are installing in the right place. so you will copy as root the plugins to the /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins and create sym links to them from the mozilla plugins directory, or simply you tipe locate mozilla to know were mozilla is, and then in flashplayer-install tipe the rigth directory. If you chosse to copy by hand (copy-paste, sey in konqueror) you need to open konqueror as root and browse until /usr/mozilla/plugins and open another konqueror (will be as user) to the directori with the pluginsm then copy-paste then create a sym link from the plugins to mozilla-$(VERSION)/plugins that is all.

Is true, and works pretty fine. exept for the sound that is disabled to the second user. That is true in windows, but in linux the user do not has "own settings", insted they have a complete indempenden envairoment, with hig security. Others are not allowd to do what you not wanted them to do.It is not "settings", it is an ACCOUNT. Good by.

yeah!, i instal the rpm and when I ran wine for the first time it holds, I try to kill the process using ksysguartd, but it was crazy. I try to use 'top' in console, and in a root consol. In every case it do not work, not ksysguard, not 'top' where able to load the process table. I repeated the experiment several times and my conclusion is: there are related facts. So wine crash and crash my control over the procesess in the pc. I thiougth it was a problem when it try to configure automaticly, becouse the windows partition is in ntfs (and I want it independent of the windows partition). so I try to configure it manually, it didn't work. I try also in a friend computer (wich windows partition have fat32) and the same happends. so I think is a Mandrake bug. Does someone else have this problem? do you know how to fix it? Ps: I aslo download the latest version of wine and install it, same happend.

Hi. Sorry, I couldn't answer early becouse I have been toooooo busy. This weekend I have been plaing with my linux OS searching for a solution. And I am not so shure what of all that I have done has solved my problem, but it is that I have done. May be useful for another user: First, I was wrong in my motherboard reference (I was at work when I wrote that) My motherboard is MSI KT6 DELTA it uses a via chip vt8237 (from the motherboard manual) Mandrake 'thinks' it is a vt8233 sound card and puts alsa drivers via82xx It make a beeeeep all the time. MY SOLUTION I disconnected the speakers. (if you have power button it can work too) After tring to deactivate the six channel output (that i have read in other forum was the source of the problem), I found (by casuality) the command alsaconf you have to be root to use it. so just run alsaconf and select the sound card (it still saying is a vt8233), and make the automatic configuration. It is automagic, it works pretty good. Now all the games work perfect. So the problem is 'solve'. I seid 'solve' becouse kmix still not working when you want to change the volume. However, if your speaker has volume control (mine not have) you will not have problems. So. Now i use multimedia ( also work with the altenatives drivers via82cxxx_audio, but it fails in games), play games, and I have tested the sound recorder too. IT WORKS for both the mic and the 'in' line. If you have one of this motherboards, the problem is solve. NOTE: this is what alsaconf have done in /etc/modeules.conf Good by and thanks

HI. Mandrake puts alsa driver as default for all via82xx sound chips. for the via8237 it makes a beeeeeeeep all the time. I read in other forum that you can solve this problem with modprobe pcspkr I haven't checked it becouse that module is only in kernel 2.6.3 that comes with mandrake 10. I have to degrade my system to kernel 2.4.x (that came with mandrake 10) becouse of my modem ( softmodem ), wich use a intel537ep chip and I wasn't alble to install teh driver in 2.6 kernel. So I installed it in 2.4 For the sound problem I have to use the alternative kernel module via82xxx_audio that come with mandrake ( this do no beeeep ). I have found this problems: 1) this drivers do not let me record music frome the input line of the sound card. 2) in games the sound is accelerated, I mean the speeches sound fast (like when you are recording a tape and select double speed in the stereo) It happends in the tenis game (cannon smash?), It crash scummvm and clanbomber do not even start. I also have downloaded the official drivers frome viarena, they also make beeeeep So I need help to do any of the following things: 1) configure sound module to not beeeeeep, and be able to use official drivers to record music 2) Install intel537ep in kernel 2.6 (then I can check if the module pcspkr works) 3) install pcspkr in kernel 2.4 and try it Can you help me? thanks a lot.
