Hi everyone, I have come across a problem with Konqueror and was wondering whether or not anyone else experienced the same. My home page is set as uk.my.yahoo.com. When the main page loads there is a section on the left hand side where you enter your login and password in order to access your personal settings. Now, in all the other browsers that I have tried, Mozilla, Galeon and Phoenix, this works ok but in Konqueror when I click into either of the text boxes nothing appears when I type. However if I click on the Sign In button I get taken to a new page which gives me the option to register or to try signing in again. Here I can enter text into the boxes and subsequently login. Is this something that I am doing wrong or need to set up somewhere in Konqueror or is it a bug that I need to submit? Thanks in advance

Thanks for replying 8) I'll check out that program to see if it works. In the meantime I have done some more investigation. I have installed a basic win98 setup on a spare drive so I'm now dual booting. Both my camera and the card reader work on this system, in either usb port. So I know all that is ok. Back in ML9.0. With the camera plugged in but turned off when I go to proc/bus/usb/devices I can see two entries, one for the usb hub and one for my usb mouse. With the camera turned on I see three entries one for each of the above and a third for usb mass-storage device. So obviously something is being seen. I just can't see any means to access the pictures on the card. :?

No. This was the way that my old camera worked but I can't get anything with these two items. Also with my old camera sda1 was shown as a hard drive mount point in MCC. Nothing at all with these two. The only way I knew that the mass storage device was identified was because it was displayed in the knmenu as listed previously. This was the wasy I got my old camera working but again, nothing with these two I've got a spare HD so I'm going to install Win98 on it and see if everything works ok that way. I know everything works on another PC with win2K, so if it doesn't I'll check the USB ports....although the usb mouse works fine in both of them. Ho Hum . . . Thanks for replying anyway

OK, here's some further info. Perhaps someone out there may be able to decipher whats happening before I resort to re installing Win98. Over the weekend I have done the following: I have re installed ML8.2 and ML9.0, both versions with the camera disconnected. Once they were loaded I plugged the camera cradle into the USB port and turned the camera on. I then waited for 10 mins. Nothing seemed to happen. I couldn't locate any means to view the pics on the card. When I went to Kmenu/Configure/KDE/Information/USB I could see the USB Hub and the USB mouse listed but nothing else. I also tried this without the camera cradle with the same effect. I then reinstalled both systems, this time with the camera plugged in and turned on during the installation process. ML8.2 reported that it was loading the driver for scsi/disk card usb-storage and then continued installing correctly. ML9.0 reported that it was loading the driver for disk/scsi/hardware_raid card usb-storage and then hung. After ten minutes I turned the computer off. When I was in ML8.2 I went to Kmenu/Configure/KDE/Information/USB again. This time I could see entries for USB Hub, USB mouse and USB mass storage - manufacturer Fuji Film. Still can't find a way to view the card contents. I then bought a seperate card reader and installed the OS's again. Both reported that they were loading the same drivers as the last paragraph but this time they both carried on installing correctly. The Kmenu/Configure/KDE/Information/USB shows the mass storage device in both setups but I still cannot find any means to view the card contents. Any ideas anyone? What am I missing or failing to do or what do I need to do correctly? All help appreciated. Dave Le Huray Guernsey, Channel Islands

Hmm, any idea why that doesn't work with the camera plugged in. All that I get is that certain applications won't start, MCC, hardDrake, Removable Media icon. They all try to start and the egg timer goes round and round in the kicker panel but then they all just stop. Take the camera away and they are all fine. Also I have no entry in /dev for sda1. Is it possible to put it in manually?

Just out of interest, is there any particular reader that you recommend and also what's the procedure for setting one up ? I don't want to have to pay extra for something else that won't work when I can get around the situation by reinstalling Win98 on a secon drive and having a dual boot system. Not the way I'd really like to go but I want to get this camera working. This is the reason I left the Amiga :(

Thanks for replying. Yes it does have removable memory. It uses smartmedia. But my original camera installed a dream and they use the same principle, at least I think they do. I'v come across another problem now, might be related might not. I can't get drakconf to launch. I have clicked on MCC on the desktop, typed drakconf in a terminal and entered drakconf in the 'run command' box from the k menu. Each time I get asked for root password and then a small text box appears that says 'loading please wait'. A short while later the text in this box disappears, the frame remains, and then nothing. I'm going to try to re install ML8.2 to see if that gets the camera to work, I've got a mondoarchive backup.

Hi, When I had ML8.2 insytalled I set up a usb digital camera by following the instructions from Linux Format no 19, as here http://www.linuxformat.co.uk/modules.php?o...mode=typesearch . The camera was a Fuji Finepix 4800Z. I say was because whilst on holiday recently it was lost. Since then I have upgraded to ML9.0 and have had a replacement camera, Fuji Finepix 401. However I cannot get the camera to setup at all. The old camera, in 8.2, was identified as /dev/sda1 and when I went to MCC i was able to see it as a hard drive with a vfat partition. In 9.0 /dev/sdax doesn't exist, nor can I see it in MCC as a harddrive. Do you mean Kppp - Dialup from the Networking entry from the K menu. If so then with the menu place the mouse pointer over Kppp - Dialup and hold down the Left Mouse Button (LMB). Now move the mouse off the menu and onto the desktop, whilst still holding down the LMB - this is called drag & drop. When you release the button a shortcut for Kppp will be dropped into place. You can now reposition this shortcut anywhere on the desktop by using drag & drop again. Hope that helps

The way that I do this is as follows: When you connected via Kppp, you will have clicked on a button in the bottom right hand corner labeled 'Connect'. Once Kppp has started it drops down out of site into the kicker. When you want to close down, click on the Kppp entry to bring it back onto the screen and in the bottom right hand corner you will find the button is now labelled 'Disconnect'. Just click on this and your modem will 'do as it says on the tin':-) Hope that helps

Good evening, I have recently installed Galeon 1.2.6 from the December Linux Format DVD and am experiencing the following problem. If I try to launch the program from the Kmenu or the taskbar at the bottom of the screen it starts to load and then stops. If I launch the program from a shell terminal I get the following error message: ** CRITICAL **: file mozilla.cpp: line 134 (gboolean mozilla_preference_set (con st char *, const char *)): assertion `new_value != NULL' failed. and then Galeon starts OK. Has anyone any ideas what I need to do to fix this problem ? I have both a Mozilla and a Mozilla-1.1 directory in /usr/libs with Mozilla 1.1 launching when Mozilla is called and I have Netscape 7 Pre release 1 installed in /usr/local/netscape. I am running ML8.2 with KDE2.2 on a Celeron 500 with 398Mb RAM, DVD & CDRW. Any help appreciated

Hi all, I have yet to find a finance package on Linux that suits my needs. As a minimum I expect the package to update regular payments, such as standing orders, direct debits etc, automatically. So far all the packages I have tried either issue a warning that a regular payment needs manually updating or don't even do that. The last program that I was able to use that did this was UltraAccounts on the Amiga. If anyone knows of a linux package that can do this that I may have overlooked please let me know.
