  1. Anyone tried installing "SuSE: Wine Rack" on Mandrake 9.2 ?? It looks pretty sweet, and may save the hassell of downloading and compiling everything manually. Please let me know about anyone having any experiences with it ?? http://www.suse.de/en/private/products/sus...linux/winerack/
  2. What version of the WUSB11 do you have ? I have 2.8 and there is a way to get it going in 9.2, depending on the chipset it uses.
  3. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year all; They have added all sorts of extra's to it such as Multi Player and CTF, Snatch etc...enjoy the pain :) http://icculus.org/news/news.php?id=1816
  4. I Guess it would fall into the How To Section, I have just added my experiences to my own website, as the steps and support changes with each and every distro. The kernel support changes also effect it greatly.
  5. Works great for me on Mandrake 9.2, and G4 Ti 4600, but no GUI settings with this one yet.
  6. Yeah, the newer distribuitions detect the hardware on install. I had to go up to 9.2 to get my Wireless going also, but hey such is life :)
  7. Yeah ... I am pretty impressed with the game play too so far. They really need more download mirrors though for Linux, there only seems to be one, and it is slow and unreliable. It took me a while to get a complete download that worked.
  8. Do you have wireless-tools installed ? This package is critiacal for wireless devices. It contain commands such as "iwconfig". ? NEVERMIND :) I can see it now, I just work up and can't seem to delete this post now ?
  9. I untarred the file to /usr/local/games and then renamed the folder to "legends", ran the ./LinLegends file and it ran like a charm in 9.2. What errors are you gettting, your download may have been incomplete, it took me 2 weeks to get a complete download.
  10. Andrewski here is sort of what I have in mine; DEVICE=wlan0 BOOTPROTO=static IPADDR=192.168.x.x NETMASK=255.255.255.0 NETWORK=192.168.x.0 BROADCAST=192.168.x.255 ONBOOT=yes KEY=off WIRELESS_RATE=11M WIRELESS_MODE=Managed WIRELESS_ESSID=linksys Also you will or should have to create this file from scratch. I had too do the same thing. Secondly, do you know if the correct device is being detected in Mandrake Control Center, or is it listing it as an unknown device still ? Secondly, once you have your wireless card working just edit the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 and change the "ONBOOT=yes" to "ONBOOT=no" and you will be all set, once things are working, you can ping the LAN and access the Internet.
  11. What do you have in your /etc/sysconfig/network and /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-wlan0 files ? You should have HOSTNAME=yourhostname NETWORKING=yes GATEWAY=192.168.x.x GATEWAYDEV=wlan0 I was missing the gateway address in the lines above, at first and I could not access the AP properly. Also make sure you are not using WEP for testing purpose, do you fillter on the router by MAC and turn WEP off.
  12. I just moved to the LinkSys BEFW11S4 and WUSB11 2.8 wireless USB adapters, and it's now working nicely with Mandrake 9.2. The big thing to remember is make sure there is support for any wireless of the devices you are looking at, or at least some development drivers, so that you can have some input on their development.
  13. LinkSys WUSB11 version 2.8 now runing on Mandrake 9.2. I just followed the instruction in the above post, but also using the latest CVS tarball (as of 2 nights ago). They added support for this chipset using this driver. "at76c505-rfmd2958.o"
  14. Ravage; Okay give Doom Legacy another shot, I changed a line in the setup.xml code, so that it should not do complain about running the 2 binaries. I also just finished upgrading to 9.2, so it was the first game I tested after making the chages, and it installed fine. The first time I ran it, it complained about the Glibc version, but once I made the changes, it didn't complain anymore. Let me know what happens now.
  15. I got the driver compiled finally, the WUSB11 USB Adapter ver 2.8 uses the ATMEL 505 chipset. Once I plug in the adapter now, it is being detect in USB Viewer. Next I have to get the settings entered and put in to see if it will communicate with the Access Point.
  16. Need more specs, you need to know the chipset of the wireless divice, and is it USB, PCI, or PCMCIA ? Is Mandrake detecting the wireless divice ? I have a wireless USB LinkSys WUSB11 version 2.8, and I could not do anything to set it up until it was detected by Mandrake 9.1. I am almost there now, I just need to do a few more things yet. I did manage to get the driver compiled and when I plug in the USB device, it is being recognized. Now I just have put in the settings to see if the WLAN0 actaully communicates with the Access Point/Router.

  18. Yep, game has to be installed as ROOT to get full access. The binary thing is one I have not seen yet, actaully that is the first time I have seen it. I will have a look at it. Thanks Ravage :)
  19. Just as a follow up, Derek and I are working on a driver for 9.1 for the WUSB11 ver 2.8, very slow process though. Will keep posting.
  20. I just posted a link at the top of the hardware forum on how to get wirless working in Mandrake 9.1/9.2, it looks promising, but I am not having much luck with the version 2.8 adapter and Mandrake 9.1. http://mandrake101.no-ip.org/
  21. I still am not having much luck with version 2.8 of the LinkSys WUSB wireless adapter, but perhaps some of you will have better luck with this link; http://www.jennings.homelinux.net/atmel.html
  22. I am trying to do the same thing with the USB LinkSys Adapter, it is definately a whole new frontier for me :) I don't seem to have the /sbin/cardctl command, is this another package I am missing ?I ran urpmi prism2-x.x.x.rpm and it didn't have any package discrepancies.
  23. I looks as if the USB Adapter is supported, and I actually found a mandrake package in the Cooker Archive for this driver. Now it is just the matter of getting it up and running. I think I will be documenting this one and adding to my site, on how to setup Wireless. Thanks and I will keep everyone informed as to how things go.
  24. Anyone running this combination with Mandrake 9.1 yet; ? BEFW11S4 Linksys wireless router, WUSB11 (USB Wireless Adapter), I have my windows clients running fine now, with out any disconnections, but I wanted to get some feedback on using this hardware with Mandrake Linux. Thanks for the input.
