  1. From your ifconfig here, I'm assuming that the Linux machine has the IP of 192.168.2.13 - as that's how it shows in the ifconfig.

You do have ipv6 enabled as well, from the ifconfig, which you could always disable if you prefer, as you're unlikely to be using this.  If you want to disable, just add "alias net-pf-10 off" to /etc/modprobe.conf.  I'm not sure but it could help to get the machine working correctly, as I've seen networking problems when it's been enabled.

What's your router brand/model?  If you can let me know, I'll download a manual and have a read on the settings, and see if we can work out what we need to configure up.  The Virtual server is the inbound stuff.  The other that you just mentioned I'm not sure of, but if I have a read on the product info, I can understand whether we need to use that or not.  I have a feeling it's just for something else entirely.

Double-check your networking (i'm not sure how at terminal to check the gateway etc), but make sure the gateway is configured for the router IP, and also double-check your DNS entries too, just to make sure.

here is the link for the doc of my router :

    belkin router

on the other point, where do i have to add "alias net-pf-10 off" in the document /etc/modprobe.conf /etc/modprobe.conf. ?

  2. i was wondering one thin about my router configuration. on the router, the IP address is 192.168.2.1, but when i type ifconfig in a linux console on my computer, it tells me the ip address is 192.168.2.13.

would not be where the problem comes from ?

i tried also to put an ip address in the dmz zone (i tried to put 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.2.13) but it does not work either.

Now i am a little baffled by the page "special application settings"

i have a field for trigger port, tcp, udp choice, then a public port field, then again a tcp, udp choice and then an Enabled box.

What exactly do i have to enter in those fields ?

i also have a "virtual server" setting page

i tried to enter 192.168.2.13 (private ip) then 80 in private port, choosing tcp and then entering 80 in public port.

But then again, it did not work.

  4. I'm not sure on your router, but normally when port forwarding is enabled, the firewall rules are altered accordingly to allow this port inbound.  Have you tried running a port scanner on your router to see which ports are open?

i do not know where to start.

the actual settings of my router are as seen in the pics i provided above in my original post.

What aboout the special application post here :

  7. Yes... I've installed it before, it's quite easy.

But I prefer the normal Apache/PHP/MySQL binaries, and webmin for controlling them.

i installed xampp on my computer and when i go to http://localhost. it seems to work

however, how do i set up the configuration file so that i can have access to the pages of my websites tests.

this is when i type http://localhost/mywebsite that it shows the file list instead of showing the index.htm page.

before i installed Xammp, the document root was var/www/html (where all my websites folder were located) but since i i installed Xammp, the document root seemed to have become, somehow, /opt/lampp/htdocs/. if i leave my websites folder in var/www/html and i type http://localhost/something, it says not present on the server. when i move the website folder in /opt/lampp/htdocs/ and i type http://localhost/something, then it display the directory contents of the folder without launching the index.htm file to display the page.

Furthrermore, i was able to enter in phpmyadmin, but when i want to create a new database, it tells me :

#1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1

any idea what is wrong ?

i tried to add privileges, but it is the same thing after that.

Is there any tutorial that explain how to setup the configuration files :

    /opt/lampp/etc/httpd.conf The Apache configuration file.

    /opt/lampp/etc/my.cnf The MySQL configuration file.

    /opt/lampp/etc/php.ini The PHP configuration file.

/opt/lampp/etc/proftpd.conf The ProFTPD configuration file. (since 0.9.5)

    /opt/lampp/phpmyadmin/config.inc.php The phpMyAdmin configuration file

    Help please !!!!!!

  9. i had to reinstall phpmyadmin 2.6.2-rc1

now no matter what i do, i cannot login to phpMyAdmin console.

    if i set $cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type'] = 'config'

here is what i got :

    MySQL said: Documentation

#1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

    if i set $cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type'] = 'cookie'

here what it says : The configuration file now needs a secret passphrase (blowfish_secret).

if i set a paraphrase, it then says :

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: pma_reloadnavigation() in /var/www/html/admin/phpMyAdmin/header.inc.php on line 137 after i entered my username and password.

does anyone has any idea what is wrong with it ?

  10. this is really strange :

i have installed vlc-0.8.2-0.test1.6mdk on mandriva LE 2005 this weekend and now when i play a dvd, the video and audio are choppy.

Another occurence, when i play quicktime videos, i have no sound (it happens with most of them, lets say 95 % of them)

Strange thing is that i can play some quicktime movies and i have the sound.

an example is this video (i have the sound though it is choppy) :

    http://www.movie-list.net/exclusive/batman...trailer-640.mov

strangely, i can also play the quicktime videos from this site (sound is working fine) :

    http://www.chrisapplebaum.com/

any ideas about those issues ?

  11. i installed mandriva 2005 le a few weeks ago and like the previous version, i was not able to connect to the internet with my wireless network card.

on saturday afternoon, there was update packages availables (one of them was kwifi, or something). I downloaded them, installed them and did not think about them anymore.

On saturday night (aproximately 2 am) i logged on my session and i had a very nice surprise when i realised that my wireless was working.

I am very well please though i don't understand why it is working now and not before. I guess this is because of the updates that i installed that day.

    I am very pleased.

  12. well i installed the win32 codecs, but still it does not work

here is what i got in konsole when i try to play a quicktime format :

    VLC media player 0.8.2-test1 Janus

[00000283] main decoder error: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `QDM2'.

VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.
