Hi all, Is there a "howto connect to your ISP from the command line" (without X) I installed MDK 9.1 in text mode on an old PC in order to use my mail with sendmail, procmail and mutt I tested my external modem OK (56K) and I want now to connect to the Internet (probably with pppd) but the man pppd with its 1630 lines is not much help to me thanks for your help

I don't know exactly what I did but ... all the directories showed in Konqueror have a CD icon instead of the classical folder icon How to fix that in one go ? I have changed by proprieties some directories icons but the amount of work is too much for me ! otherwise those directories are unaffected and open OK thanks for your attention

Hi, Thank you for the clue I made a mod in fstab and everything woks fine (I had installed a new DVD and there was a discrepancy between CCM and fstab) being a newbie I am happy to have fixed it without a re-install as I was used to do on another OS

the 3 folders are in the mnt folder of course !

Hi all, my CD burner SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-248F was operating OK to read and burn the CD's but couldn't read any audio CD's so I started Kscd and copied the infos lines of the Mandrake control center which read "/dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/cd" into the Kscd config my CD-ROM can now read the audio CD's but cannot reead or write any data CD moreover I got now 3 folders related to the same Cd reader/burner that is cd + cdrom + scd0 being new to Linux I am afraid I am lost can anybody help to sort this out ? thanks

I am on this machine because it works fine with WIN98SE it is for my wife who plays freecell only and the mail her machine is infested with virus on Windows so a small linux to send & receive mail that's all we need

Hi all, Is there any package to clear the bugs of this distribution without going to a newer version ? I would appreciate to use a distro which is stable and without bugs and I don't see the reason to go to a newer version with more bugs I would not spend my time changing version every 6 months if I can get one without bugs
