  1. Thank you. I have wireless tools installed in my system. [root@localhost rar]# urpmi wireless-tools unable to access hdlist file of "update_source", medium ignored The package(s) are already installed When i connect using IWCONFIG command, internet is getting connected properly and a "signal bars" like "||||" but in increasing order of size appear in the tray. But when I right click that and go to manage wireless networks menu, It says "No device found" Please have a look at the screenshot for more details.
  2. Hi, I have a wireless lan card avaliable in my dell inspiron 1501 laptop. The problem with that is I am not able to search for available wireless networks in the range. But, If i know the essid and key, I am able to connect to wireless internet using the IWCONFIG and DHCLIENT commands. But for this I have to know the essid. How do I search for available wireless networks in a particular region? [moved from Software by spinynorman]
  3. hi.. I am not able to open websites lie streambox.tv.. they use microsoft windows media player plugin.. is there any alternative? I also have another problem How do i edit startup programs in linux? I mean we have something called msconfig in windows.. when i type this command in run prompt, it opens a window for me and there i can select / unselect programs that start with windows.. how do i do it with linux? amarock player starts with linux automatically.. i want to disable this..

  5. Thanks but In that website, I am not able to find a download for mandriva.. it has a download for distros like debian, gentoo, arch linux, freeBSD, Slackware.. not for mandriva.. how do i download it?
  6. Hi.. Good morning every one.. I use Nautilus 2.16.0 to burn my DVDs.. The problem is its finalizing every DVD making it unusable again.. Is there any way to burn multisession discs? If its not possible with nautilus.. request you to suggest any other cd burning softwares which have multisession option.. Thank you.
  7. Hi.. I like Amarok music player a lot.. but thats not the default music player in my system. Its some other player.. I also want to change default image viewer and many other things... I went to system->preferences->preferred applications menu.. But there I could change only three things.. browser, email client and terminal emulator.. How do I set my favourite music player as the default player and how do i change my default image viewer? Thank you for all your help..

  9. Hi, I use gaim in linux to login to gtalk and yahoo! messenger.. But the problem is I am not able to use my webcam or do a voice chat. Just for this, I am going back to shitty yet useful Windows XP.. Is there any messenger software using which I can share my webcam and do voice chat? Just like yahoo! messenger in windows... I installed yahoo! messenger in linux.. but looks like it doesnt even support voice chat.. as good as using gaim.. Please help .. I don't want to boot windows again.. Thank you..
  10. Hi, I used mandriva 2007. When I open a big document (which has about 10 photos), the word processor (writer) hangs up. Is there a way in which i can peep into the processes and give this process a greater priority and cpu time so that it opens up quickly? Thank you.

  13. Hi, I have downloaded seamonkey-1.1.en-US.linux-i686.installer.tar.gz from the internet and extracted it on my desktop. When I try run installing it, the following error message pops up.   14. Hi, I use mandriva 2007 on my laptop. It loads KDE by default. I switched to gnome. In KDE, when I press windows key in my laptop, the start menu pops. It doesnt happen in GNOME.   17. Hi.. I have searched for drivers and I got these two files.. bcmw15.inf and bcmw15.sys.. I have installed these drivers by the command ndiswrapper -i bcmw15.inf.. I have also configured my new internet connection.. It got configured.. but in the system configuration menu, when i click wireless lan icon, It still says no device found... Do i need to recompile my kernel or something like that? Please help!!

  19. I have installed mandriva 2007 on my dell inspiron 1501 laptop. My wireless lan is not being detected by mandriva .. 802.11g wireless LAN is what I have on my laptop.. I have installed only first two installation CDs.. Where can I get the drivers? when I tried locating for driver in the installation cds, it said It can also take a .ini file (windows driver format) and install the driver for me.. Is is possible :o ? I still dint try this.. Please advise...
  20. wilki, I too use dell inspiron 1501.. I have installed Mandriva 2007..It got installed but my wireless lan has not been detected.. did you try installing its driver? I connect to internet using wireless lan.. I am now logging in to shitty windows to browse internet.. Where do I get its driver? I have only installed first two cd's of mandriva.. i still haven't installed the third cd.. do I have my driver in that? pleasee help.. how do I make mandriva 2007 detect the wireless lan card I have...
