    netconf

Ok, tryed to install Linuxconf with RPM manager in Mandrake Control Center, searched for Linuxconf and the search came up empty. So I went to remove software to see if it was installed, and that search came up empty also. What I am trying to do it change the document root for served pages for Apache, I got it to look in the dir I want, but, everybody gets this message: Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server. I thought maybe if I change the permissions for the folder I want it might work, ya, a stab in the dark, and that didnt work either. Any other ideas??????

    netconf

I am curious, when I was using older Mandrake releases I could do the netconf thing in the konsol without getting a command not found message. Does this no longer exhist??????? Thanx for your time.......
  3. I couldn't connect to it from the Windoz machines...... :? I uncommented like your's and works like a charm......... :D Thanx a ton d00d....... :D :D
  4. Yes I can print, and yes it uses CUPS, here the Samba conf........ # NOTE: If you have a CUPS print system there is no need to # specifically define each individual printer. # You must configure the samba printers with the appropriate Windows # drivers on your Windows clients. On the Samba server no filtering is # done. If you wish that the server provides the driver and the clients # send PostScript ("Generic PostScript Printer" under Windows), you have # to swap the 'print command' line below with the commented one. ;[printers] ;comment = All Printers ;path = /var/spool/samba ;browseable = no # to allow user 'guest account' to print. ;guest ok = yes ;writable = no ;printable = yes ;create mode = 0700 # ===================================== # print command: see above for details. # ===================================== ;print command = lpr-cups -P %p %s # using cups own drivers (use generic PostScript on clients). ;print command = lpr-cups -P %p %s # using cups own drivers (use generic PostScript on clients). ;lpq command = lpstat -o %p ;lprm command = cancel %p-%j # This share is used for Windows NT-style point-and-print support. # To be able to install drivers, you need to be either root, or listed # in the printer admin parameter above. Note that you also need write access # to the directory and share definition to be able to upload the drivers. # You must disable (by commenting out) the share above if you enable this. # For more information on this, please see the Printing Support Section of # /usr/share/doc/samba-2.2.1a/docs/Samba-HOWTO-Collection.pdf # Please note that this has not yet been tested as packaged here with CUPS. ;[print$] ; path = /var/lib/samba/printers ; browseable = yes ; read only = yes ; write list = @adm root
  5. I tryed that and it still didnt work, The only time I got it to work is when I had the 3.6.1 non hardware acclerated XFree installed......
  6. Hello again, I have installed 9.1, which is pretty darn nice, anywase I have everything set up the way I like, except my printer. I have it installed on the linux machine, and I want to share it with the Windoze machines that the wife and kids use. I have Samba set up and can browse the network with all the pc's the only thing I am having problems with is the printer. And I have a funny feeling it's something really simple, and I am gonna feel a little foolish....
  7. Is this possible????? I was thinking extract the first ISO, then move the RMP folders from the other 2, then using ISO buster get the boot inage from the first ISO and applying that to the DVD....... Any ideas????? A friend has a DVD-RW, and I figue this would be not only fun, but not having to change cd's cause I am lazy would be great.......hehee
  8. It is the Xfree 4.2.1 hardware acclerated thats giving me problems. I reinstalled with the 3.6.1, I think, and didnt have any problems running netconf. I will do it with the configs, I was just being lazy anywase, to many years of Windows and it's wizards have made Slagathor a lazy boy....... :? Thanks for the time guys......... P.S. It is Mandrake 9.0, maybe I should give 9.1 a go.......
  9. From in X, I am running X 4.2.1, system is an overclocked Abit BP6, duel celerons 366@561. With a Voodoo3 2000 PCI. rcxau: I will give that a go and see what happins........ Thanx for the suggestions guys..... :D
  10. I decided to do a fresh install lastnight. Now I get this when I try to run netconf [root@ziggy ziggy]# netconf Error message from remadmin :Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server Error message from remadmin :Xlib: No protocol specified Error message from remadmin : Error message from remadmin : Error message from remadmin :Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0.0 remadmin (GUI frontend) exiting abnormaly I dont remember this happening before.......... Any ideas what I am missing?????
  11. Ok did that, the only thing I see hogging the CPU's is Folding, which is nothing new....... Plenty of ram left free..... I had to reset the router recently, and then I changed the DHCP client lease time to it's max setting, I just changed it back to 0, 0=1 day. Now I will see if this is the problem........ Thanks for your help......
  12. But a strange problem has popped up....... Last week and a half, if my Linux machine is not used regularly it wont connect to the network, and programs load VERY slowly..... I run Folding@Home on there, and run Apache web server for a small site, my Fold clients I run nice -1, I have done this since I been running Folding. The install is not very old, and the kids do like some of the games, but they have been playing on there since I started using Linux on this machine and, Like I said before, this problem has just started....... Any ideas what might be happening????? System Specs: Abit BP6 366@561mhz Linksys 10/100 NIC Voodoo 3 2000 PCI WD 8.4gig HDD (linux install HDD) Seagate 3.2gig HDD (win98 install) 350 watt PSU
  13. Thanks for the help.......... I will give it a go here soon, it's been acting a little weird lately...... :?
  14. So If I make a 3 or 4gig FAT32 part. on one of my machines and copy the cd's to it, I install with NFS option right?????? Then point it to that machine?????
  15. Ok installed LM_Sensors and Gkrellm, and suprised the heck out of me as I actually got it to work, and with GKrellm no less... :D When I ran sensors-detect I havent add'd stuff to the files it told me to yet, if I reboot will it still work, or will I have to run through it again????? The temps look right, I have a couple machines like this one and the temps and voltages look right, as it is detecting the Vcore on CPU 2 as 1.5, and thats the VTT voltage... :D
  16. Is this possible?????? I been doing some searching about this and couldnt find next to nothing about this........ The cd rom attached to the Linux machine will soon be gone....... Thanks for your time.....
  17. But has anybody ever been able to run Mother Board Monitor with Wine????? I get a MBMdll error...... Just curious..... :D
  18. And now it is complete, 366's running at 561 100mhz bus....... Very much nicer then the 533's at 75mhz bus, even though the CPU mhz is lower, 562 compaired to 600, overall it is much better and faster.......
  19. To run the bus up more........ The 533's maxed at 75mhz, the 366's will do 100mhz bus easy......
  20. Yes it is, thank you much sir........ :D
  21. Do I have to do anything to change CPU's???????? Currently I am running 2 533's and just got a set of 366's..... Just curious is all........ Thanks for your time......
  22. Thanks for the help guys, for some strange reason, it is working again...... I just dont understand, I do know, I won't be rebooting again until it is time to reinstall or the power goes out.....
