SoulSe
My Geforce 4 card has a video out port and I can't figure out how to get it working in Linux. I have heard two stories about this: 1. At present, the linux video drivers from nvidia do not support video out. 2. It is possible to get it going (the people who say this can't tell me how though :? ) So if anyone can help me get my video out running, please do so. I have the latest nvidia drivers up and running like a dream (minus the video of course...) and I use Mandrake 9.0 (exclusively).
Guest HaloScan
Have you tried this?
DOlson
Also, the simple way to get video out working is: Shut down your computer. Unplug your monitor. Plug in your TV out into your VCR/TV. Turn on your computer. But it's better to use your XF86Config-4 file so you don't have to reboot. SoulSe
Ok... obviously the easiest of the two options was to unplug my monitor & plug in my TV, but this doesn't allow for dual displaying, so I'll follow the directions in the tut. Just scared of #*@&!ing up my X, but if you don't take risks, you don't learn anything. Will post the results....
johnnyv
backup you XF86Config-4 file before editing it. That way if you can't startup X you can use the command line to restore your old config that worked. Thanks for the tut DOlson im trying out twinview now! I'm just not sure what version of PAL we use here, i think its G, oh well theres only one way to find out(besides doing a search  ). You have a 21inch monitor :!: drool :!: My 17inch hides in a corner whinning.
johnnyv
besure to take my advice and backup your config before proceeding. I stuffed something up and had to restore my old config file. back to try again, said it was a incomplete config file, i must have missed something out. Off i go again :? DOlson
It's completely possible that the tutorial doesn't work 100%. I only have one monitor, so the only TwinView I've done is with a monitor and a TV. I've had some people look it over, and they said that it worked, so I think it should be fine.
