tvlad
I've recently installed Mdk 9.2 and i chose the alsa driver for it.After i used the mixer in kde i was able to hear sound, but only on the two front speakers. Why is that ? The remaining channels are muted and the mixer in kde doesn't show'em, or the driver doesn't support 5.1 sound ???
DragonMage
AFAIK only soundblaster live! and audigy series support 5.1 speakers sound in linux. The rest are regular 2 speaker setup unless you have digital speaker output. Try installing alsa-mixer package. Then unmute all the channels and play with it until you find a setting that enables all the speakers.
tvlad
I'll do that, but if audigy has 5.1 channel support, shouldn't this be true for Audigy 2 as well ?
zero0w
Audigy2 has unofficial support from ALSA (which means most thing works but some feature(s) might be missing, sort of in beta status). More info regarding Audigy2 ALSA support can be found here: http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php?page=emu10k1 It is in my understanding 5.1 AC3 & DTS passthrough works better with ALSA 0.9.8 available from ALSA official site. FYI, you may want to try alsamixergui, you can install this by: su urpmi alsamixergui
aRTee
The rear channels work if you start kmix: mute one of the last culumns: sb-live analog output jack (or surround or so) This was so for 9.1 and now 9.
tvlad
I got all my speakers working, i just played arround with the controls on the alsamixer.( thx for the help) Do you have any idea why i can't hear my central speaker in windows while listening mp3s, because in linux i can hear it.
