Gnubie
If I use urpmi I find a bunch of packages with xmms in the title, but which one do I choose? I tried some of them but none of them will install.
fuzzylizard
Generally pick the one with the shortest name and the least amount of words in it. Basically, that means that you need to pick the package that looks similiar to xmms-1.2.7-25mdk.i586.rpm (actually, there is a good chance that that is the exact package that you are looking for) Notice the lack of other words in the title. Also, if you are using urpmi and you do pick a wrong package, it should tell you that you have to insall xmms first and then proceed to install the xmms package in order to satisfy dependencies. That's right, but that package didn't show up in the list. I looked in the rpm folder on my first install cd and it was there though, so now I am fine. but I just don't understand why urpmi wouldn't fetch it for me. fuzzylizard
Are you sure it isn't already installed and just not showing up in the menus?
Gnubie
Are you sure it isn't already installed and just not showing up in the menus? I'm sure, I updated my menus and everything, and as I said I was able to install it when I manually searched on the cd for it. B)
ezroller
can you run it from the terminal? just run "xmms" from a terminal and see what happens. another great resource is: www.rpmfind.net
