k3b, cdrecord and unsupported sector size

Hi,

I recently installed Mandrake 9.2 after having used 9.1 for a long time without any problems.

Now, when I run k3b and try to burn via a cue file, I get an error in the debug log stating "Unsupported sector size 2352" and the CD fails to burn.

I have ran k3bsetup, logged in again etc, so that all of the proper permissions have been set. My cd devices are being properly detected and are also properly mounted.

k3b worked really well for me on 9.1 but now I'm stuck!

Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated!

Thanks.

I don't know what version you're using but have you tried the version from our download site? ftp://213.232.94.69/pub/Mandrake/stable/Contrib/

From what I've read from other posters it's an improvement over the one that comes with Mdk.

Other than that I don't have a clue and I couldn't find anything through google.

Thanks for your reply.

I also tried googling before posting here.

I have tried these versions of k3b:

- the one that ships with 9.2

- 0.9-1mdk

- 0.9-11mdk (from Cooker, I think)

- 0.10-2tex

- 0.10-2.mkd91 (from the k3b download page, I think)

It must be something to do with my setup on 9.2 since I had previous versions of k3b working just fine on 9.1.

I will try the 0.10cvs version from your ftp site today.

(The other thing I noticed is that the only packages that seem to have "k3bsetup" available were the mdk ones. k3bsetup is very useful for setting up the required permissions!)

I tried the package you suggested.

Still get the same error.

You can see from the log:

/usr//bin/cdrecord: Unsupported sector size 2352 for data on line 2 in '/home/cds/burnme.cue'.

I also typed the cdrecord command line directly, i.e. outside of k3b, and got the same error.

CD writing is the only thing I have to dual-boot into Windows for! I'm completely stuck with this.

Maybe you got this all wrong.. maybe it is a cdrecord error.. not a k3b error. K3b after all is basically a frontend to cdrecord command line program. Check with another cd burning program such as xcdroast or eroaster or gnome-toaster and see if the problem persists. If it does.. you may need to change the cdrecord to one newer or older.

You're right of course. I did subsequently post that I'd executed the cdrecord command line and it had failed too.

So, I removed the cdrecord package that installs by default with 9.2, and put on an earlier version (cdrecord-2.0-2mdk.i586.rpm) instead.

Everything now works.

It's just unfortunate that 9.2 did not work out-of-the-box for me.

Thanks for the help.
