kilimanjaro
I cannot access ftp site with galeon or mozilla. It will say transfering data at the bottom of the screen and after about 70 kb it just stops, and I am left with a blank black screen. I can't get to most rpm downloads, I have been trying to download gnutella for a week, but I cannot find a site that works. I am not using a firewall (another problem), so that shouldn't be a problem.
bvc
can you go here? ftp://213.232.94.69/pub it's our ftp. Run galeon from a terminal and try.....any output errors in the terminal? Have you tried an transfer client/app like gftp, d4x, gtm?
kilimanjaro
Yes I can go to ftp://213.232.94.69/pub and I have tried to use gftp and it would open a directory, the first time I tried it, but the it asked for a password. When it did open a directory, I still could not get it to download anything. I will try galeon in a terminal and see if it works.
kilimanjaro
I tried using galeon in a terminal. No difference. I did notice that at the bottom of the screen it says 0% loaded, but it is loding information. it looks something like this Transfering data from ftp.pbone.net (0% complete, 1705 kB of 1707 kB loaded) This one loaded more than most, but all I got was a blank, black screen. This is the place I tried to download from. ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/plf.zarb.org/p...1.2plf.i586.rpm
bvc
In galeon I went to ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/plf.zarb.org/plf/9.1/i586/ rt-clicked mencoder1.0-1.0-0.pre1.2plf.i586.rpm and clicked Download Link. If I just clicked the link, I got a black, blank page, which has happened several times lately with galeon and epiphany. you could try [root@localhost root]# wget ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/plf.zarb.org/plf/9.1/i586/mencoder1.0-1.0-0.pre1.2plf.i586.rpm --12:26:56-- ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/plf.zarb.org/plf/9.1/i586/mencoder1.0-1.0-0.pre1.2plf.i586.rpm => `mencoder1.0-1.0-0.pre1.2plf.i586.rpm' Resolving ftp.pbone.net... done. BobGuy©
I have tried to use gftp and it would open a directory, the first time I tried it, but the it asked for a password. Generally when you get a password popup at a pub ftp site it just wants a email address, any address will do. I always put in me@home.net and I have always been granted access. kilimanjaro
Well it just got worse. I tried urpmi and it won't contact any ftp sites to get all of the dependencies I need, in fact it says it will ignore that site. I tried changing contrib sites and it didn't help at all. I don't know enough to even guess what is going wrong.
bvc
what sites? PLF? remove it and use ours; ftp://213.232.94.69/pub/PLF/mandrake if 9.1, add; ftp://213.232.94.69/pub/PLF/mandrake/9.1 to your sources.
kilimanjaro
It says unable to update medium it will automatically be disabled This is what happens everytime. I tried to urpmi for dvdrip and it can't do it because it is unable to update medium.
