hawklord
decided to swap the usb adapter for a wireless pci card (don't tell the misses :D ) uninstalled the bcmrndis driver problem number 2 - inserted the pci card, booted my pc, extracted the .inf and .sys, installed the driver and - nothing, rebooted my pc - black screen, and again, and again - finally got it to boot, checked ndiswrapper -l pc locked up, reboot and black screen tried again and this time it told me the driver was installed - but no card, checked lspci and its listed, went to set up a new connection and it says there is no device, uninstalled the driver, took out the pci card, closed the case and inserted my ethernet cable, no lock ups, no black screens, internet running fine, wireless in the bin, problem solved and i'm happy thanks for trying, i just got fed up with going over the same things
