Guest llorgge
I just got a dlink dwl 650+ because mandrake said it should be compatablew and my computer does indeed see it, but I just can't seem to get it going. cardctl ident shows identifies it and i even put that into /etc/pcmcia/config with the manid and had it bind wvlan_cs, but alas no go. I read that that is outdated so I tried orinoco_cs but that didn't work either. If I go into my hardware settings in mcc it shows it, but i can't configure it. In the network configuration i tired telling it to look at both wvlan and orinoco, but it still tells me the module is unknown. Any ideas? Steve Scrimpshire
Follow this thread: http://mandrakeusers.org/viewtopic.php?t=8499 (You seem to be a step ahead of this person, because you can info from cardctl ident and this person can't)
frosterrj
Thanks to Steve for all the help in the thread he pasted into his reply. I'm now beginning to think I should have stayed with the 650+! Anyway, when I tried the 650+, I think I got card info using the Prism2 module. Try that one. actually I'm not sure I got the card to identify before or after I loaded the module..... here's my output when I had that card, so it should work for you too. D-Link DWL-650+ H/W Ver.:B3 F/W Ver.:1.9 [root@localhost robert]# /sbin/cardctl ident Socket 0: no product info available Socket 1: product info: "Wireless Network CardBus PC Card", "Global", "", "" manfid: 0x0097, 0x8402 function: 6 (network)
Guest llorgge
yeah, i can get that when i cardctl it and i put that into /etc/pcmcia/config and my MCC picks it up in the hardware section, but i guess i'm not binding the correct module. I'm going to try the prism one as well as the 8211 one (assuming i can get it to compile). here's my output when I had that card, so it should work for you too. does that mean it actually can work with Mandrake? The last one I tried, I found out that it was impossible to work with Mandy after numerous hours of tinkering. thanks for your help.
