eppoh
Just installed Mkd and win 98 on a new desktop. When running linux but idle, the hard drive will go CLICK... tick about every 7 seconds. With the click the HD light blinks, but not with the slightly quieter tick. It does not do this when in windows. Is there something about the file sys in Linux that causes the drive to be polled every few seconds? Counterspy
Mine does the flash without the click and can be seen with Gkrellm and process use of 16.4 Kb every four seconds when sitting at idle in KDE with or without anything else running. Since it makes no noise I have never bothered to trace down the process. Counterspy
