zero0w
Although the official announcement is not made yet, OpenOffice 1.10 final binaries already hit the mirror sites, go find a mirror and try to locate the /1.10 directory by browsing around the mirror sites: List of mirror sites: http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/source/1.1rc5/ One of the mirror to look for OO.org 1.10 final binaries: http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/packages/openoffice/stable/

Peep
This new version supports better MS Office filters wow, you're not kidding. i looked at some of the documents that i usually need to use word for (resume, etc), and they are spot-on perfectly formatted. this is a big release. It never worked for me though, it always produces a postscript file while giving it the .pdf extention. Was that a known bug or is something broken on my system? No point to upgrade until that is fixed then:-).
paCkeTroUTer
If I want to upgrade my Open Office to the "Latest and Greatest", do I just download this package http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/packages/openof..._install.tar.gz and install it ? What other necessary measures do I need to take ? Do I need to remove the old version ? Any help appreciated Jeffery

No point to upgrade until that is fixed then:-). This feature is more useful to Windows users, because they don't have this option you mentioned in Windows version of OO.org 1.0.x. Yes, Linux can do PS/PDF export for years for almost any applications running on it.
derxen
What other necessary measures do I need to take ? Do I need to remove the old version ? There are excellent instructions in the readme in the tarball, and there is an even better installation guide (pdf) included. Just untar+unzip and read carefully. But the short answer is: no you won't have to remove the old version. derxen
