Steve Scrimpshire
Really what I'm looking for is a Linux utility that can push the limits of my processor and RAM, so I can watch the temps and see how they do.
Gowator
Hey Steve... Try the unpatched installer for 9.1. On the right system it goes into an infinite loop.... More seriously....how about just running the bogomips code over n cycles?? for CPU perfomance. You could also if REALLY interested download the SPEC benchmarks.... now that would be interesting :D Other easy ones are say KDE compile with j set higher than is efficient ! I find time pretty flixible. Like copy something into physical memory.... swapoff and see how much you have then just create an empty file and mv <300mbfile> /tmp In solaris you can use mkfile (and create an empty file), you can either compile it for linux or do what I do and just create a uncompressed empty bitmap of the right dimensions and colour depth :D Once you ideenfity wnat you want to do to stres you can just time command then you get cpu time/.user and process at the end.
