payasam
Moderators, please move if appropriate. After using KDE for five years, first in Mandrake/Mandriva and then in PCLOS, this is my first time with Gnome. When I click on one of the arrows on the taskbar to make it disappear, the arrow also disappears and the only way I can bring them back is by a hard re-boot. Never happened in KDE. scoonma
When the gnome taskbar is visible, right click on it to change properties as needed. HTH, scoonma
payasam
Scoonma, I shall state the problem more clearly. When I click on one of the arrows, the taskbar vanishes completely off the face of the Earth. I know that I did not configure it to do this. scoonma
I know that I did not configure it to do this. Okay, I don't know the reason for this behaviour, but maybe at least you can change it the way described above.
payasam
Scoonma, what you suggest is not possible. The taskbar ("panel") properties option does not include complete disappearance. An arrow should remain visible. This seems to be a bug.
viking777
IMHO there are only two desktop choices around these days. Xfce and KDE3. The others are either bug ridden and horrible (KDE4) or just plain difficult (Gnome).
scoonma
The Gnome setup here doesn't include arrows neither. It's called "arrow" in the default setup, but the look depends on your theme. Yours is possibly broken - I do not suspect a gnome bug. So I suggest changing your gnome theme.
payasam
Well, the theme is one which came with Gnome, which came with Mandriva.... Still, what you advise is a course to follow, perhaps the only valid one.
