Guest Gazmaz
Ok I'm a little new at this but I'm finding that the boot up sequence (Linux) is taking a looooooonnnnngggg time after this first failed message. Loading USB INTERFACE1 (USB-OHCI) [Failed] Long wait at least two minutes :x Then this comes up BRINGING UP INTERFACE ETH0: [Failed] Then the system boots up into KDE etc. What can I give you in the way of info. I'm running two operating systems, Windows98 and Mandrake 8.2. I currently have a RealTec Fast ethernet card, not yet being used and a bog standard Intel based internal modem, currently I'm using the Win98 to access the Internet Hope someone can help :?:
fuzzylizard
My first guess would be that the network card is what is causing you the problem. It may be set for dhcp but it can't connect to a dhcp server and thus needs to timeout before the boot can continue. One way you can test this is to give the network card a static IP address. Something like 192.168.1.1. This should speed things up for you. As for the first failed message, I am not sure what is going wrong there. Guest Gazmaz
Thanks I'll give that a go and see what happens. I do have an extra PCI card with some extra USB ports on it, this could be the first issue, I'm less concerned about that one at this stage. Thanks again I'll let you know what happens!
