Guest apcullen Posted November 1, 2002 Report Share Posted November 1, 2002 never had this problem in 7.x or 8.x I'm using an ibm pc with a via chipset, integraged savage 4 graphics and sound. after a fresh install of 9.0 opening xine hangs the system. xine pops up (xine, not the options/set-up window) and things just stop. keyboard and mouse get no response. recycling power is the only fix Any thoughts? spiedra Posted November 1, 2002 Report Share Posted November 1, 2002 There is an errata concerning the keyboard being unresponsive, but not because of Xine. It happens when there is inactivity though. I'm just guessing, but maybe Xine is loading the wrong sound driver or no sound driver at all? That would be one thing I would check as something similar happened to me. Other then that, I dont have any other ideas other then to launch Xine from a console and see if it is coming up with any errors and to see if you can launch it successfully as root. Using the console try to start xine will something like xine -V OpenGL or xine -V XShm If you type 'xine -help' you'll see all the available video driver.
