jmo707 Posted January 5, 2009 Report Share Posted January 5, 2009 I can't play ogg files with Amarok nor VLC, though I can with Totem. Similar thing happens with a module music file extension: s3m. The problem was not solved, but there is a thing that I didn't mentioned before that might be helpful. Both VLC and Amarok can actually play the ogg files (s3m isn't recognized), but there is no sound. By the way, mplayer plays ogg fine, with no strange messages, but doesn't play mod, xm or s3m. Now VLC plays ogg, mod and xm =D s3m can't be recognized still, but this is great! adamw: VLC, Totem, Amarok, Firefox?, and KsCD. The only output device is Intel HDA. You could try switching the Phonon output plugin from Gstreamer to Xine (install phonon-xine package first) in KDE Control Center (not Mandriva Control Center). It may help.
