Guest chisquare
Hello, I'm trying to setup lm_sensors, ultimately in the hope that I can get my cooling fan to activate when needed, rather than full blast all the time. Can someone please verify whether the following steps are correct, and if not, please correct me: (1) install lm_sensors: I did this from the 9.1 distribution CD. Linux recognizes that it is installed, but I do not see evidence of it, e.g. there is no /sensors/ directory under /proc/sys/dev/ (2) run sensors-detect: did this too - hangs (every time) about 1/3 of the way through (must kill and reboot). (3) reboot If I can just get this working, I believe I can control the fan (there is a helpful thread on the message board). Your help, as ever, is greatly appreciated. I hope that I can get a handle on Linux and return the favor(s) someday. :)
bvc
hangs (every time) about 1/3 of the way throughthrough a specific scan/probe or 1/3 throught the entire process? If the process, just don't do the scan/probe that causes the hang, and see what you end up with, might be better than nothing.
devries
Did you do 'modprobe i2c-proc' before you did 'sensors-detect' ?
