hawklord
hi, i'm running mdk2009.0 one and i can't seem to get the version of virtualbox in my software running - all it gives me is the message 'spawning session', is there an rpm of the full version around (free version) ? i've been to sun but they only have a version for 2008, the same with rpmfind, can anyone point me in the right direction - or even help get my copy working thanks
scarecrow
- Close VirtualBox. - Install kernel-devel package that matches your running kernel. - Open a root console, and: modprobe -r vboxdrv vbox_build_module modprobe vboxdrv - Now run VirtualBox again. This must be done every time you update VirtualBox and/or your kernel, unless you are using DKMS. Edited November 13, 2008 by scarecrow
hawklord
not to clever at the moment with kernels, but my guess is you mean my main linux kernel i checked in my software and i have kernel-desktop586-2.6.24.4-1mnb kernel-desktop586-2.6.24.7-1mnb kernel-desktop586-2.6.24.7-2mnb all enabled, and virtualbox-kernel-2.6.27.4-desktop586-2mnb i don't have a virtualbox-kernel-2.6.24.?-desktop586-?mnb (i was going to ask why my drivers are all 2008.1, is this related ?) sorry if this is wrong and is not what you meant
scarecrow
That means that you have made an upgrade from a previous Mandriva version, and you do not have the latest 2009.0 kernel installed. Installing a new version over any non-rolling distro (and Mandriva is a non-rolling distro) is not trivial. You MUST install some things by hand and get sure that you don't break something.
