Guest maynord
I attempted to set up OpenLDAP with Mandrake 9.0, installing all the appropriate files "by hand" rather than at install time. However, when I try to start LDAP, it just says "failed". Does anyone have the Mandrake 9.0 OpenLDAP up and running? Am I better off downloading the source version from the OpenLDAP web site? Just thought I would inquire before I put many hours into it... Robert
qeldroma
My question is another, but similar direction: I installed all LDAP things from the install CD's and had no problems. As i remember right, there where some buggy ISO's for download in the beginning of LM9, perhaps..... Could you be so kind, to post a small introduction for the first steps, setting up an adress database via openLDAP? I installed, but am overwhelmed by the HUGE amount of documentation, although i just want to try it for adressbook reasons...
Guest maynord
Sorry, My experience with LDAP is just beginning. I am hoping replace NIS with LDAP - however, you are correct that the documentation and setup are challenging! Thanks for the tip on 9.0 isos. I try a new download....
