hirohitosan
Hi there. I just install Md2009 and when I tried to add some media through automatic Easy URPMI an error appears. Unable to add medium, errors reported: ...retrieving failed: rsync failed: exited with 35 unable to access the distribution medium (no media.cfg file found) Medium: () I'm using a proxy server to connect to Internet. How can I set the proxy for URPMI Thanks a lot [moved from Installing Mandriva by spinynorman]
ianw1974
You wouldn't really need to set the proxy unless it's being used as a transparent proxy. However, to set the proxy you just do: export http_proxy=ip_addr:port replacing ip_addr with the ip of the proxy server, and then the port that you use to connect to the proxy. You can also do the same for export ftp_proxy in the same format too. However, this was attempting to use rsync, and if that port is blocked, then this is why you cannot get the media configured correctly. Perhaps try: urpmi.removemedia -a and then try adding the media again using the easyurpmi link. Also check the /var/cache/urpmi directory to see if a media.cfg exists, and if so, delete it to download and get a new fresher one.

medo3891
Can you try adding a specific mirror? in the Mandriva control centre>s/w management>configure media sources press Alt+A. Or use easyurpmi but click the two manual selection links.
