wessellj
Greetings! I tried to install the nVidia drivers and yes, I followed the directions, nut now x windows doesn't come up at all. What file do I edit to set it back as it was?
MottS
Did you try to install the driver with the nVdia installer or an RPM? Here is a FAQ about the nVidia driver => http://www.mandrakeusers.org/viewtopic.php?t=4567 <= Good luck! MOttS
Ixthusdan
What warnings are you getting from x? Which card are you using? Did you change the resolution after the install? I have been using nvidia drivers since XFree 4.01, and the problems I encountered were all what I did not know!! The new nvidia installer is really nice. The only file you need to edit is /etc/XF86Config-4. Since you are asking about which file to edit to "change it back" I believe you never edited this file to begin with, which is why x won't start!
Cannonfodder
Since you don't know what files you altered, it sounds like you didn't do it correctly.. did you update the /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file manually as the instructions tell you to do? If not, that may be all you have to do to complete this process..
