OpenOffice and Totem Movie player - a bad combo?

After installing 2009.0, OpenOffice writer at times acts strange. The "File" menu opens up as if I clicked on it with the mouse, or used alt-f. I finally found out what's causing it (but not the solution!). When I have Totem Movie Player playing music off the Internet using the playing list file (.pls) that I saved. It doesn't happen if Totem Movie Player is just on, but only while playing the .pls. I opened up both programs in console, and there were some messages written. Then I waited for the "File" menu to open up again, and when it did, the messages that were already written in console didn't change. They are (and were):

[kieth@localhost ~]$ oowriter3.0

javaldx: Could not find a Java Runtime Environment!

[kieth@localhost ~]$

(soffice:11605): Gtk-WARNING **: GtkSpinButton: setting an adjustment with non-zero page size is deprecated

[kieth@localhost ~]$ totem

** (totem:11714): WARNING **: Failed to create dbus proxy for org.gnome.SettingsDaemon: Could not get owner of name 'org.gnome.SettingsDaemon': no such name

This really isn't a big deal, as there are other ways to listen to music, but it would be kind of nice to get it resolved. Any ideas?

Thanks

I tried to copy and paste my .pls file, but it wouldn't do it. But anyway, I have the following 5 stations in the .pls file.

When I did my "test", I don't remember which one I opened up first in console, so before answering your question, I decided to try both ways. First I opened OO, then Totem. After a few minutes, the "File" menu popped down. Next I tried just the opposite. Sure enough, after a couple of more minutes, the "File" menu opened. I don't know if it makes a difference, but I almost always have them on different desktops, but tonight I have them on the same.

Oh, I forgot, I use KDE 4.1. Another thing (to say that which is obvious) is that I'm always working with a document in OO. Whether I'm typing or not, the "File" menu drops down.

:woops: Since I'm not very good at "computer" stuff, 99% of my "problems" are self inflicted and not caused by bugs. Therefore, I've never checked to see if a bug report has ever been filed for any of my "problems" (I don't even know how to), and obviously, I've never reported a bug. :woops: I don't think I would know the difference between a bug and one of my famous "problems"!! If this is a REAL bug, I should report it, and will.

I'm using Gnome, and totem is generally a gnome application, rather than KDE - even though you can still use it in KDE because it would have pulled in the dependencies it needed.

On mine, gstreamer:

[ian@esprit ~]$ rpm -qa | grep -i totem
totem-gstreamer-2.24.1-1mdv2009.0
totem-common-2.24.1-1mdv2009.0
lib64totem-plparser12-2.24.0-2mdv2009.0
totem-mozilla-2.24.1-1mdv2009.0
totem-pl-parser-i18n-2.24.0-2mdv2009.0
lib64totem-plparser-mini12-2.24.0-2mdv2009.0

totem-xine is also a possibility as the package exists in the repos.

So, he may have to install the gstreamer plugins (is there some metapackage for them in Mandy?). One of them (can't recall the name) is used to make gstreamer dbus-aware, and may well solve the issue. Maybe dbus-python is also needed- not sure, though...

Or he can switch to totem-xine, AFAIK this does not need any special dbus connector.
