phunni
I've been using Fluxbox for ages, but never actually tried to write a GUI for it in Java (the only programming language that I know - unless you count XSLT) Today, however, I tried to do just that. But there is not window to my GUI - it just appears in the top left corner of the screen and there are no minimise/maximise/close buttons. I tried to view the same window in windows and XFCE4 and it looks fine (considering it doesn't do/contain much yet) Does anyone know how to get this working in fluxbox? Other Java apps I've tried (well - just eclipse I think) have all allowed me to view in a window. BTW - I'm using swing not AWT
ramfree17
the reverse happened to me. i was once a xfce user but all of my java apps (those with GUI anyway) appear as small squares that i dont know how to maximize (at the time i was running j2me emulators). a few search afterwards reveals that this is an issue with the window manager and some java rendering api. it has been a long time but i think this is recorded in the java bug tracking database. ciao! ramfree17
I gues you don't know if there's a workaround? i only did the only workaround that i was presented, change WM/DM. since i dislike using kde and gnome (too slow), i got stuck with fluxbox and it was heaven for me. sorry that the reverse is what happened to you. i have not used any java gui apps lately to i might be experiencing from the same bug and didnt know it yet. ciao!
