static
Can anyone tell me how you properly get xmms to play cd's?? I've had so much trouble trying to figure this out! I know this: [*]Start xmms [*]Configure the cd plugin to point to (is it /dev/cdrom or /mnt/cdrom??) [*]Now what???!!?!?! TIA guys!
ezroller
after that, open up aumix and make sure that the cd volume is turned up. default is off. I just followed you're instructions and did this, and now it works.
static
Yeah but how do you play a cd? I can't add cd songs to my playlist! Unless I'm doing something wrong <shrug>
ezroller
all you have to do is click >add< , select "dir" and point it to /mnt/cdrom. at least thats all I had to do.
static
Cool - thanks! I suppose you're using supermount and you configured the plugin to look at /mnt/cdrom as well?
ezroller
no i avoid supermount like the plague!!! i did however point the plugin to /mnt/cdrom
bvc
using supermount and you configured the plugin to look at /mnt/cdrom as well?I use sm, but all I do with the plugin is make sure it's checked off
static
And you can play cd's?? (If not, why confuse the crap outta me? :?)
bvc
Yep. Always have. Never once have I even looked at the cd plugin other than to see if it's checked off. Heh, I didn't know you could change where it pointed to, is all I was saying. Not trying to confuse ya  Basically, I've always played cd's with xmms, with sm enabled. That's all. ezroller
I would have quit linux at the start if it had not been for xmms. I love it. I just wish there was something that could use winamp 3 skins.
tyme
I would have quit linux at the start if it had not been for xmms. I love it. I just wish there was something that could use winamp 3 skins. there was a short attempt at porting (or just plan out making a version of) winamp3 to (for) linux, but it died out quickly. i never really liked winamp3 myself, but that's just a personal opinion :)
