Sunwatcher
I think I did something stupid. I am running Powerpack 2008.0 on this machine, but 2008.1 on others. In updating this one, I think that I installed updates for 2008.1 -- and now MCC doesn't work. Nothing even registers if I run it from a terminal; I just get a prompt. Is there any way to fix this without re-installing?

Greg2
Yes, you have installed updates for 2008.1. I'm also guessing that you have installed many more that are not listed in that output. I would suggest that you backup anything that is important to you. Then change all your repos to 2008.1, and try to do a complete update to 2008.1, which may or may not work properly for you. If that doesn't work, then I believe that the easiest and fastest solution for you would be to reinstall your system with 2008.1.
Sunwatcher
Thanks, Greg. I guess I'll just go ahead and reinstall. Fortunately, this is not such a big deal with Mandriva!
scarecrow
Fortunately, this is not such a big deal with Mandriva! Actually, this ***IS*** a big deal- else, nothing is. If you are using a distro that is issuing regular new versions every XX months (Mandriva, Ubuntu, Xandros, whatever...) take care NOT mixing repos. Or, alternatively, opt for a rolling distro (Debian, Gentoo, Arch, Fedora...).
