Hi, all

Have a speedtouch DSL connection here

Always have to go to the Mandrake Controlcenter to the new Internetsetup

There is a Connect button, another button appears "network-Monitor" and conn is established

This is very cumbersome !!!!!!!!!

How can I make (find???) an ADSL-STart button on the desktop right away ????

Thank you for help jackson

I asked the same question a while back. Could not find a button to activate the connection but you can add a script to the start up so that it will connect you during your log in/startup. Then I just just gkrellm or something with a network monitor to view the status.

I will try and find the link to the startup script.

What you need is a script to test if the connection is already up.

I'm not at my linux PC right now ...

the start/stop are

adsl-start and adsl-stop

I think theres an adsl-status you can choose to test if its up or down.

Personally Id copy the test part of say ifup which tests if the interface is up and stick it into a seperate script. That way you get one button which will start it if its stopped and stop it if its started.

Most of the time I wanna start/stop i just do it from the CLI.
