Parental Control in Linux

I have a extra box that I want to setup for the kids in their room. Is there any software or away for me to control what sites they go to? Can I setup something in any of the browsers that will prohibit them from going to places that they don't need to be going? I know I can find out where they went by going into the history.

I know some of the answers maybe "Well you should be in the room watching them when they surf the net", and that may be true but you have to let them earn trust sometime, sooner or later., even thought I may spy on them through the history. ;)

RH 9 will be setup for them to use each with thier own account and me as root.

Not sure if this is a workable answer for you, but if they get their internet over a shared connection then you may be able to set up a proxy server on the machine that's sharing the connection. Squid is a good option and there are "plugins" that can be used, quite effectively I'm told, to then restrict access to various sites. This is based not only on lists of dodgy sites (which will always be out of date) but also by scanning ages to see if they contain any unsuitable material based on the words used in the text
