satelliteuser083
I'd like to change the printer page-size default from 'letter' to 'A4'; I understand that this can be done by modifying a cups (config?) file, but I can't find a suitable one (from the very many cups files, I mean ;) ). Can anyone help me out? I'm using 2007. Thanks.
ianw1974
You should just be able to go into cups config from the web browser and do it in there. http://localhost:631 is the url to use.
{BBI}Nexus{BBI}
You can do this via the CUPS admin page. http (or https)://<address here>:631 Click the printers tab, then click Set Printer Options.
theYinYeti
I usually do this from Mandriva Control Center, and only OpenOffice doesn't comply. Yves.
satelliteuser083
Many thanks, Ian, (and nexus), that was dead easy. And, Yves, my OpenOffice ignores it, too, as does medit; great tip. Presumeably there is a series of localhost:nnn addresses for different apps/functions; is there a list anywhere? Thanks, once again.
ianw1974
You can fix it with OpenOffice, you just have to set your settings up and then save it off as a template. Then, set this as your default template for all templates, and then you've always got A4 page format :) I did have a post here previously on the printing of openoffice, you can search for printing openoffice a4 and my username and you should find it. EDIT: Here it is: https://mandrivausers.org/index.php?showtop...ting+openoffice it might be Ubuntu but the principals are the same.

coverup
Adobe Reader is another app that does not respect CUPS settings for paper format. Does anybody know how to permanently change latter to A4 in Adobe Reader?

Nope, at least this was my experience: https://mandrivausers.org/index.php?showtop...=adobe+printing
