Hello.

I am trying to install a printer that is on a windows 2000 server.

I can reach shares on that server (though i didnt use the webmin

to reach those shares).

If i use mandrakes "finding printers tool" in the controlpanel i can

see other printer that are on own printerservers (that have own ip´s).

Do i need any special service installed on the 2000 server in order

to reach the printers?

What is the cleanest way to instal a printer that´s on a 2000

server? (tcpip or something else?)

Thanks for helping!!

Br,

You can try and do it via CUPS.

I haven't done it but I know it finds my samba shared printers.

It should be in the configuration/printing mandrake menu.

If it acts up starting it this way I find it better to just connect direct from my browser. That way you can click administration and get it to authenticate you as root.

You should be able to connect via the Mandrake Control Center, Printers, then choose advanced. If browsing for printers on the Windows network doesn't reveal the printer then you should be able to use manual configuration, giving it the IP address if it has it's own or addressing the server name should get it.
