Peep
i took a tnt2 out of my box and put in a geforce4 ti4200. it seems to be working just fine, my glxgears went from 600 fps to about 4000. i know the nvidia driver is for all nvidia cards, but i wanted to make sure that during install it doesn't compile itself to work with the specific card that it finds... do i need to reinstall the driver? Ixthusdan
My understanding is that their driver is a universal device for their cards. But, the tnt2 is an older design that is fundamentally different from their current design of Gforce4. And I have read about some tnt2 users having to use older drivers for best result. So, I would recompile it.
bvc
are you actually compiling like with the -ne options or just installing without any options? If you're telling it to compile then yes. If you're not passing any options to the installer don't bother.
Peep
i'm probably using the word "compile" incorrectly. i just did a plain install of the nvidia driver. quake3 and ut2003 played fine, so i will just assume it's ok unless i come across any problems.
