Guest billforce
Parameters, new PC Abit K7T Athlon 2000+Tbred 256 Samsung DDR 60 gig Maxtor ATI -all-in-wonder 32 Com 21 cable modem Three partitions, 19 gig @ 1...Win98SE 2...Win XP Pro 3...Mandrake 8.2 ?? maybe Lilo is fine, both Windows systems work normal. When I load 8.2 all is well while loading but when I reboot to Linux, either Linux or failsafe it will start but then quit at "Finding Module Defen." with just a flashing cursur but will not continue. I have waited for a lengthy period of time thinking maybe it will start but just the flashing cursur. When install is complete, everything appears normal? I loaded the three disks on another PC with a ten gig HD and it worked perfectly?
ramfree17
something in your new pc is not being recognized properly. may i ask why you want to install 8.2 and not any of the 9.x releases? ciao!
Guest billforce
I've had a new set of 8.2 disks I bought and never used. I wanted to try it first before I bought another set of 9's.
aru
Probably is because harddrake, which was buggy on 8.x, you can prevent its run at boot doing (if you are able to full boot): ~# chkconfig --del harddrake Ofcourse you can always follow ramfree's expert advice ( don't_trust_ramfree's_signature © campaign)
Steve Scrimpshire
You can boot with the first installation disk at hit F1 at the prompt and type rescue and then login as root and chroot /mnt You may also want to try /sbin/depmod -a while you are there.
