Guest HDCEL
Hi THere I really have a problem here. I just installed the Mandriva 2008 ONE. Everything is working perfect, except I cant get ssh to install or start. In software management I can see openSSH is installed, and all other ssh things are installed, so I hope this is correct. I have tried several things in the konsole to start the service, with out any help. urpmi ssh-server Here it says. No package names ssh-server or service sshd start I have root access Here it says. Cannot find sshd service In the service, I cant see SSH either In the ssh folder there is only a ssh_config file THX HD Edited February 8, 2008 by HDCEL
Steve Scrimpshire
Have you tried urpmi openssh-server ? Edited February 9, 2008 by Steve Scrimpshire
scarecrow
The name of the needed package is "openssh-server" indeed.
ianw1974
urpmi ssh-server should have worked, at least it always did in Mandriva 2006 and 2007, unless they changed something. The package is called openssh-server, but Mandriva did manage to figure out that if you just did ssh-server it would get the right package. Sounds to me like you don't have your repositories set up and hence why you can't install it. I would try this from the command line: urpmf --name ssh-server and if no response, then no repos are configured: urpmq --list-media will reply with a list of repos you have configured. So you can post that list here if you can't get it working. Repos can be set up using the easyurpmi link at the top of this page.

So its working now. THx for all help.
