Guest Clear Issue
I recently purchased a new computer running Windows XP and I want to know how to share my dial-up internet connection with another computer running Mandrake 9.0. I set up internet connection sharing (ICS) on the windows computer, and configured my mandrake system to use the windows computer as my gateway. Now, the problem that I seem to be running into is that I cannot access DNS. I used "netconf" to manually adjust my DNS settings, but nothing seemed to work. I can ping ip addresses all day long, but hostnames are invisible.
MottS
XP sucks to share the net buddy.. I had only problems in my Windows days. You should do the other way around. ie share the net with Linux .. Anyway. Open the Mandrake Control Center (MCC) and clic Network & Internet and then Connection. There is a wizard at the lower right. Run it and configure it so that you connect to a DHCP server. That should work. If that doesn't work, reboot and report what is the ouput of ifconfig here and say how much ethernet cards you have in your Linux machine.
