Guest awshirley
I'm currently running 2007.1 (32bits) with all the current updates. I just replaced my Athlon 64 with an Athlon 64 X2 and increased the ram from 1 GB to 5 GB. I can't run Gnome without X Windows locking up. It freezes the mouse, screen and there's nothing I can do to recover it except reboot. All processes that started with the computer still work, it's just X windows that's freezing. Any suggestions would be helpful. This is driving me NUTS!!! [moved from Software by spinynorman]
Ixthusdan
X can be rebooted with control-alt-backSpace. There is no need to reboot the computer. Now, if the keyboard is also locked, then have a look at the system logs to see what happened. My best guess at the moment is that one of your RAM sticks has a bad chip. scarecrow
Notice that you cannot use 5 GB under a 32-bit OS, and most likely not under 64-bit either (depends mainly on mainboard/chipset). https://mandrivausers.org/index.php?showtop...=0&p=345279 Edited January 8, 2008 by scarecrow
