DragonMage
What kind of joystick is it? Gameport? USB? The brand name? Used in the soundcard gameport or built in? Anyway, usually you need to modprobe these modules 1. joydev 2. hid (if USB) 3. gameport (if gameport) 4. ns558 (if built in gameport) 5. The joystick module of your choice, for a simple two button joystick try using 'analog' module Here are two examples: 1. For my logitech thunderpad digital connected to built in gameport, I used these modules: joydev, gameport, ns558, adi (adi is the logitech module) 2. For my gravis exterminator gamepad connected to USB, I used these modules: joydev, hid Hope it helps.

DragonMage
You're welcome... ironically, sidewinder is one of the easiest joystick to setup in modern linux distro :)
