Guest joehill
well, it appears I have borked something, although not critically. I did urpme freetype just to see what the dependencies would be like (god forbid I should use rpm drake ;)), and of course the dependencies would be almost my whole system, so it was taking a long time to respond. anyway, I just cancelled out (ctrl-c). big mistake. now, every time I use rpm I get this: [root@node1 sylpheed]# rpm -ivh libgpg* Preparing... ########################################### [100%] 1:libgpgme6 ########################################### [100%] error: db3 error(-30998) from db->close: DB_INCOMPLETE: Cache flush was unable to complete rpmdb: First overflow page 3 has a prev_pgno rpmdb: Overflow item incomplete on page 3 error: db3 error(-30985) from db->verify: DB_VERIFY_BAD: Database verification failed now, it seems that rpm still works, ie. the software gets installed or removed as expected, but I would still like to correct this mistake. I don't even know where to start to investigate this, so if anyone has an idea I would really be thankful. cheers all.
ab2ms
rpm --rebuilddb sounds like the rpm database was borked. That command should straighten it out. (if that's the whole problem that is)
Guest joehill
okay, I swear I read through rpm --help and I did not see that one, Thanks very much, it seems to have worked, I'll know next time I do rpm! cheers!
bvc
Next time try rpm -ev --test <pkg name> -vv --test for debuging
