menendez
"a fatal error ocurred: urpmi database locked" I get this when I open Rpmdrake. No other apps are running. How do I fix this? Thanks, Jose BTW, running 2007.1 KDE
Ixthusdan
You need to manually unlock the database. This is a good way to do it. If you follow these instructions explicitly, you'll do fine.
67GTA
That has happened twice to me with 2008. I finally just rebooted. Thanks for the link, that will come in handy.
scoonma
"a fatal error ocurred: urpmi database locked" This error occurs when two different install processes try to get access to the database (query is no problem though). In most cases this is indicating an urpmi process which stalled, was cancelled badly or is still running in the background. In a situation like this I'd either find that task and completely remove it or resume it and stop the latter one.

It is set to check for updates at certain intervals. If you open the urmpi GUI while the mdkapplet is working, it will get locked.
Ixthusdan
Yes, it does do this. But, normally the database will also unlock when it is done, usually 1-2 minutes.
