    USB mount/unmount?

You removed the usb devices, rebooted the PC, and it still boots into text mode?
  2. I saw the new version on Distrowatch today. It is based on Slackware. It doesn't have much of an installer yet, so I haven't attempted it. Anyone else tried it?
  3. Vista bootloader is a little different, so it won't fix Vista bootloader, but it will boot the Vista partition. It should boot from USB if your PC is set to boot from USB, and it is plugged in when you are using the cd. I have never tried it with USB, so I'm not sure. It is only about 100MB last time I downloaded it. Try it out. Just burn it to CD the way you would burn a live CD. Plug in your USB drive, put in the CD, reboot, and see if it is listed as one of the bootable partitions.
  4. It will restore/repair the MBR of windows up to XP, but not Vista, resore/repair grub and lilo of GNU/Linux partitions. You could install without bootloader and boot using this cd. You should check it out. I use it on my other test PC where the distros use different bootloaders. It is easier to just pop in the cd and boot the individual partitions. 5. Super Grub Disk. It will fix grub, boot partitions, and a few other things. http://supergrub.forjamari.linex.org/
  6. I think the mdkapplet is causing this. It is set to check for updates at certain intervals. If you open the urmpi GUI while the mdkapplet is working, it will get locked.

  8. That has happened twice to me with 2008. I finally just rebooted. Thanks for the link, that will come in handy.
  9. Are you sure your cd drive supports the media your using (CD-R,CD-RW)? What brand/model drive do you have? What app are you using?

    Synaptic Repos?

I wanted to test Synaptic on Mandriva. Can someone point me to docs/info on setting up repos in Synaptic for 2008? I found some for 2007, but nothing for 2008.
  11. I now have Mandriva installed and mostly configured. Now if I could only learn how to install downloaded programs from the web in Linux I will be in buisness! I am currently going through (exe) withdrawl :o . Where can I find info on installing tar files? Thanks for the help.
  12. Hello. New Windows user here. I have already downloaded Mandriva 2007 and burned to disc. It detected all my hardware and seems to run fine. I would like to install on my hard drive and have a dual OS setup. Will the Mandrake 2006 manuals work for 2007, or has something drastically changed? Where can I find 2007 instructions? Also, I have heard about Windows problems from partition resizing. Any info would really help. Thanks.
