theYinYeti
How can I change Gnome settings so that windows placement is intelligent, instead of putting all windows (except those that find their place themselves, eg: gimp) at the top left corner of the screen, which is most stupid, since this is precisely the place where desktop icons are, hence those are hidden! ianw1974
I've always just moved the windows about. For me, gimp now starts in the top right when I launch it. I don't know a way of turning off the default of if you have a few windows open of it going to the top left.
iphitus
Open gconf-editor and see if theres an intelligent option. Otherwise, just install another window manager, kill metacity or your 3D desktop wm, and run another one instead. I use pekwm in xfce4 for example. theYinYeti
Thank you both :) I'll manage now I think. Changing the WM is a good idea. Yves.
