The game I'm referring to is Uplink: Hacker Elite (in the UK, I think it's just Uplink). You can get the demo here: http://www.introversion.co.uk/uplink/ There's a linux version of the demo, and full linux version included on the cd. I bought it today. Even says Linux on the box, hehe. They list it as one of the features: "Choose your OS: Windows or Linux" or so.
