Hi

I have a asrock dual-vsta mobo.

It has a builtin sound ( C-media 6501 ).

I can't finsd a way to activate it after I log in.

At log in it plays a tune but then nothing.

No sound at all.

CD or internet.

I know that I have alsa 1.0.12

have serached the site , but can't find a way

to do this.

PS

By the way, during this search I found some old mandrakelinks

wicj gave 404 errors. Replaced mandrake with mandriva and

everything worked.

Does anyone want to take care of the links ?

Play a bit with "kmix".

That chip works OK with alsa 1.0.12, the worst that can happen is wrong model identification which will show erroneous inputs/outputs on the mixer- but you will still have sound.

What can be done about old "mandrake" links found by google, or even in the forum? The "mandrake" label is not an intellectual property of Mandriva, and nothing can be done about it.

And I guess the forum mods have better things to do than correcting all outdated links in old posts...

Thanks Scarecrow

I installed kmix and rebooted to get a device in kmix.

All I had to do was to raise the sound level.

So now I got sound from the web

The /dev/cdrom has access problems ,

I recognise this from other thrads so I'll check them out.

Solved

PS

It wasn't user threads it was in wiki and general help.

Yes I can understand the priorities.

But it seems like it's been taken care of now.
