MadHattr
I read this earlyer on linuxgames.com all i have to say is :) :) NF to be Linux-only, Use Glide Renderer - Tuesday Apr 01 00:53:20 2003 - [posted by jvm] In an announcement that is leaving gamers around the world stunned, the ever-outspoken George Broussard has stated in a 3D Realms forum post that the aptly-named Duke Nukem Forever will in fact be the very first Linux killer app. The apocryphal first-person shooter will be shown at E3 running on several Linux platforms, from high end workstations down to a tiny wristwatch, demonstrating clearly the true power of non-free software running atop free software. The future of the Windows and Mac ports now seems unclear, as Linux is currently the only officially supported platform. "It just made sense to me one day. Linux. Duke Nukem. Two great tastes that go great together," Broussard gushed. "Well, and Linux has the best Glide renderer and support for 3dfx hardware that I've ever seen, bar none." He later admitted that RMS had been influential in making the decision to move to a free software platform. "I heard Ricky rapping about freedoms and that GLP license stuff. And that moved me. It really did. But I didn't really understand the part about GNU/DNF." Reactions around the game industry have been mixed. When asked for comment, John Carmack of id Software simply said, "Guh." TransGaming president Gavriel State announced the launch of the XENIW project to allow Windows gamers to play Linux binaries on Windows. Meanwhile, gamers the world over prepared for the coming release by dusting off their old Voodoo2 cards, burning Debian install discs, and looking for drivers for their winmodems. We will have a preliminary build of DNF on hand soon and will be posting an exclusive preview shortly thereafter.  :P
